CANCELLED: Happy Birthday to us! A year of Monthly Cycles

Social cycling for the win! Image: Pickpik

CANCELLED: Unfortunately, the Monthly Cycles crew have had to postpone our event this Sunday, 20 September 2020, due to the latest Covid developments and expected restrictions for Dublin.

Rather than cancelling our event entirely, we are hoping to be able to hold a Belated Birthday Monthly Cycle as soon as it is safe enough to resume our meet-ups.

We’re very sorry to have to make this decision, but we do think that it’s the right decision in the circumstances.

In the meantime, stay safe, stay distanced, wear a mask, and wash your hands.

Covid info

Please refer to our new Monthly Cycles Covid Page for full details and links to official guidance.

Background

Government guidelines state that organised outdoor exercise, sporting, cultural or social activities of up to 15 people may take place – subject to appropriate social distancing and hygiene measures.

Each person must assume personal responsibility for their own health and safety, and to always consider the health and well-being of family, friends and wider society.

On the day of our Monthly Cycles event

  • Remain physically distant at a minimum of 2 metres
  • Bring: disinfectant/gel for hands; gloves; masks

On the day, we ask that everyone observes a minimum distance of 2 metres apart (except for participants who are from the same household).

While cycling, please ensure to keep this 2 metre distance between the person cycling beside you. Please also ensure that you keep a good distance between you and the person cycling in front of you, and avoid being in their ‘slipstream’.

If you can, please bring your own disinfectant/gel for hands, your own gloves, your own masks. We are aware that not everyone can access or afford these items, so we will have a limited amount of supplies with us on the day. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch in advance (best is to send us a Direct Message on Twitter), or on the day when we meet.

Check our Monthly Cycles Covid Page for information and videos about:

  • Wash/disinfect hands: how to use correct technique
  • Gloves: how to put on & remove
  • Masks: how to put on & remove

Protect each other: stand apart.

About Monthly Cycles

We’re a Dublin-based initiative, with the aim of bringing women in Dublin together each month for an inclusive cycle around the city. We hope to reach both those who are comfortable cycling, and those who are not quite there yet.

We welcome everyone to join us, of all ages and abilities – there’s no pressure! These are social events, with the added bonuses of exploring the capital, sharing experiences, exchanging tips, and (very importantly) enjoying cake.

Please note: While we welcome all abilities, please be aware that participation is at your own risk.
