Event info

After our first socially distanced Monthly Cycle, we’re back on 4 July! Please join us, especially if you or someone you know is new to cycling since lockdown. ❤️

We’ll meet on Saturday, 4 July 2020, at the earlier time of 11:30am outside Blackrock DART station. (You can view the location on Google Maps, here.)

We’ll take a gentle tour around Blackrock, including checking out the new bike lanes and layout in the village main street, before settling down for chats, coffee and nibbles.

The “Getting there” section below gives further details, including some information about getting to the meeting point by DART, and details for anyone who’d like to cycle from Dublin city centre to Blackrock.

Please also like and share our Facebook event and Twitter updates. 😀

Getting there

You can take your bike on the DART at weekends, and our meeting point at the start of this event will be outside Blackrock DART station at 11:30am. Please note that we can’t guarantee that DART station lifts will be in working order. However, if you have been able to reach Blackrock DART station but need assistance to exit, please send us a Direct Message on Twitter, and we can come in to the station to lend a hand.

For those who are travelling by bike from Dublin city centre, but do not wish to take the DART, a number of us will be meeting at 10:30am out side the Grand Canal Theatre, and cycling from there to the meeting point at Blackrock DART station. (You can view the 10:30am meeting point on Google Maps, here.)

Covid info

Please refer to our new Monthly Cycles Covid Page for full details and links to official guidance.

Background

Government guidelines state that organised outdoor exercise, sporting, cultural or social activities of up to 15 people may take place – subject to appropriate social distancing and hygiene measures.

Each person must assume personal responsibility for their own health and safety, and to always consider the health and well-being of family, friends and wider society.

On the day of our Monthly Cycles event

  • Remain physically distant at a minimum of 2 metres
  • Bring: disinfectant/gel for hands; gloves; masks

On the day, we ask that everyone observes a minimum distance of 2 metres apart (except for participants who are from the same household).

While cycling, please ensure to keep this distance between the person cycling beside you. Please also ensure that you keep a good distance between you and the person cycling in front of you, and avoid being in their ‘slipstream’.

If you can, please bring your own disinfectant/gel for hands, your own gloves, your own masks. We are aware that not everyone can access or afford these items, so we will have a limited amount of supplies with us on the day. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch in advance (best is to send us a Direct Message on Twitter), or on the day when we meet.

Check our Monthly Cycles Covid Page for information and videos about:

About Monthly Cycles

We’re a Dublin-based initiative, with the aim of bringing women in Dublin together each month for an inclusive cycle around the city. We hope to reach both those who are comfortable cycling, and those who are not quite there yet.

We welcome everyone to join us, of all ages and abilities – there’s no pressure! These are social events, with the added bonuses of exploring the capital, sharing experiences, exchanging tips, and (very importantly) enjoying cake. 🙂

Please note: While we welcome all abilities, please be aware that participation is at your own risk.
